Pianist & Composer with an Extraordinary Gift for Therapeutic Musical Improvisations
Renara Akhoundova is a pianist and composer with an extraordinary gift for improvisation. Since 2004, Renara has recorded 10 albums and performed in 18 countries. Born in Baku, Azerbaijan, Renara has lived most of her life in Paris. Today her “performances” are in fact celebrations of the art of improvisation, and she conducts online musical therapy sessions with clients from around the world.
La Voie de l’Amoureux (The Path of the Beloved) is my tenth album, and the first to include 4 studio improvisations out of eleven tracks. This album was inspired by the desire to know and experience the mysticism of the Divine. Rumi, Hafiz, and Murat Yagan helped me on this path. One piece after another came to me during the years between my last album and this present offering. Each was born from total immersion in my experience of life. The everyday meetings with others, my revelations. Falling in love with God, a state of intoxication by Life, with a deep sense of gratitude opens. This is where the music comes.
Since 2004, Renara has performed in 18 countries around the world. She has played in large concert halls and cozy salons, and everything in between. Renara has also collaborated with artists and poets to delight audiences with a synthesis of multiple modes of expression. Today her "performances" are largely celebrations of the art and magic of improvisation. She invites the audience to participate by connecting deeply with themselves and co-creating the music together with her.
"Live music which originates from the source goes straight to the listener’s heart and works wonders. I am simply the egoless instrument in this process. The music comes from the Divine to each and all individually. My task as the instrument is to keep the intention pure.
This music of the moment, which approaches the soul through the heart, heals, inspires, opens, and leads. It is a mysterious process, both for the giver and the receiver."
